Grahamgl
Gentlemen, I am in the process of buying a L/H drive TR4. It has/had a white dashboard. What is the colour code/pantone number of the correct shade of white please? Graham
david ferry
I'm pretty sure that they were/are Spa white. http://teglerizer.com/triumphcolors/ David
RogerH
They started off as Spa white but I'm sure they ended up 'New' White Spa white does not have a ST code . New white is ST Code 19. Roger
Tom Boyd
I'm sure all were Spa White. Subaru Performance White is a very close match Tom
RogerH
Hi Tom, according to BP the Spa White was dropped for New white in 1963 at CT21267. The 'engine' turned instrument panel went to black crackle at CT4398 Roger

TR 2100
New White was introduced in early 1963, replacing Spa White for external paintwork, also replacing the standard aluminium/silver wheel paint. I've asked the question before about the dash colour but I haven't found any reference yet, so it's one of those 'unknowns'. Only way to find out is to check the shade of white on the dash of a mid-63 or later TR4 or TR4A. AlanR
RogerH
Hi Tom Alan, in BP's book 'Original TRiumph TR4/4A/5/6' on page 46 it shows a picture of aTR4 white dash board. The text reads - "The TR4 dashboard was a somewhat austere metal pressing, painted white irrespective of the body colour Spa white was used at first but replaced by New white in 1963 at car number CT 2127". I suppose he could have been talking about the inside of the boot though. Roger
TR 2100
Roger, I think BillP is making a logical assumption, but not necessarily a correct one. AlanR

badhuis
New White was introduced in early 1963, replacing Spa White for external paintwork, also replacing the standard aluminium/silver wheel paint. Thanks for this. My Feb 1963 TR4 needed two other (better) wheels which had been painted black for some reason, so I resprayed all four wheels on the car using a bog standard silver metallic wheel spray cans. The originals on my car still wore their original paint which is a slightly darker silver. I always wondered if these were in fact original, to the car, as I also see many 4s with white wheels. Reading your comment it makes me think they are the correct original colour. I looked it up in Bill Piggotts book but there is nothing about the colour of steel wheels, all about wire wheels but nothing on the steel disc wheels, a big omission I would think. TR 2100
My feeling is that steel wheels were painted New White but wire wheels were still silver as standard (chrome option) AlanR Edited September 14, 2017 by TR 2100
