Recovery of original UK registrations

Recommended Posts

I have been recovering original UK registrations under the DVLA's V765 scheme for Register members ever since the scheme started in 1991, 26 years ago......in total I have managed to recover in excess of 400 original numbers for members for all kinds of TRs, but now, I have had enough......

I have therefore given notice to the Register Committee that I will not be taking on any new cases after March 31st, although I will see through all cases already started prior to that date.

Therefore, if you have a TR without a modern V5C document but have sufficient documentary evidence to enable me to recover the number, act now, as there is likely to be some delay before a new volunteer is in place ( it is an at times frustrating and thankless task....) details of the scheme and how to proceed are given towards the front of every TRaction, and I can be emailed on bill.pig@hotmail.co.uk Bill Piggott

Better make sure the Board of Directors know Bill - we haven't had a Committee for years.

Your services are, however, very much up to date and appreciated by all concerned. A Member and owner of a very rare Triumph contacted me only this week to say what a great job you had done for him.

Thank you for all your efforts over the years - you will be a hard act to follow.

Fortunately, never needed your services Bill (as my car war originally a USA reg), but what sterling service to members which should be applauded by all TR owners.

What on earth will you do with all that extra time on your hands!

Best Wishes

Glynn

Thanks for your unwavering support for the club.

We both go back a long way.

A new member in my local group, South Downs Group, has a new TR with the registration number BP ??? Have you still got a TR of your own?

Good luck

Yes Richard, I still have the TR2 I have had for 13 years which gets regular use, plus another dismantled wreck.....I also had until I recently sold it a TR3A with a BP registration; I rightly resisted the temptation to keep the number which remains with the car. I already have a BP plate bought off a retention certificate on my modern car in any event. BP is a West Sussex plate issued in the late 1950's and is/was quite common on TR3As...at least 6 such cars are known, mainly supplied by Ken Rudd's outfit in Worthing area.

I notified the Chairman of the club some weeks ago that I would be standing down, and thus the club's management was aware of my decision....

The fact that we are run by something that calls itself a "Board of Directors" and not a committee is one of the contributory factors to my decision....I am not prepared to work as a volunteer for a "Board of Directors"....back in the early 70's, I joined a car club,.......BP

Also a big thank you from me Bill for your service to the community, and for the help you gave me some time back on an other matter. My 56 was originally dispatched to France and somehow made it to Tucson AZ by 1958. My trail back to the original owner stops there. Does any such list exist for cars sold in France

A message to echo the many votes of thanks to Bill Piggott for the good service at reasonable rates he has provided to both members and non-members of the TR Register alike through his administration of the V765 scheme for TRs over so many valued years.

So, we are now in search of volunteers to step into this role within the TR Register. Page 4 of the next TR Action Magazine carries the following notice.

VOLUNTEER VACANCIES: V765 SCHEME INSPECTORS NEEDED
Two volunteers are urgently required to undertake routine V765 inspections, be registered as the DVLA contact for the club on such matters and also advise potential applicants on the likelihood of success for their applications.
The DVLA’s rules for the V765 scheme, under which original registration numbers can sometimes be recovered require that the vehicle be inspected by a club official prior to certifying the V765 application.

The TR Register are also required to have at least two names registered.
Inspections do not neccesarily have to be undertaken by the two signatories advertised for above, they may be done by, for example , local group leaders with material submitted to the signatories but the DVLA does require us to have two lead signatories listed to oversee our scheme.
Call Jo now on 01235 818866 or office@tr-register.co.uk.
