TorontoTim
Nothing to do with me, but I thought I'd post it in case anyone's interested. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-triumph-2000/

paul83
I'm a fan of upgrading our cars... but the pain of seeing this!!!!! a TR in name only...
john.r.davies
What's your beef, paul? Why is it "a TR in name only"? Triumph engine - tick! Triumph gearbox - tick! OK, Nissan drive shafts, but Triumph made theirs with bad engineering - TR4s were like Vitesses - the wheels fall off, because of the stress points. No weird body mods, just no windscreen, and a rollcage - it's a RACING TR! Or do you see some other failing - I don't know TR4s At only $1600 - less than £1300 for goodness sake! - I'd buy it if it weren't across t'Pond. John
oldtuckunder
+1 and I think that will reach 20k+ by auction end, the engine has to be worth 10K, spot the KAS signature?
DaveR
+1.The sort of race car seen back in the 1960's/1970's. Both on the track and on the road. Dave
MichaelH
Looking at the engine I can't see how the big ends get any oil: normally there is a hole drilled up to the inside of the big end from the main bearing. I can see a big hole in the side of the crank with a divot out of the crank to create it but does this oil the big ends? Any comments? Michael H
Motorsport Mickey
Michael, +1 on the oiling unless it's tucked around the corner on another plane I'm not familiar with, however given the money spent inside this engine on quality components designed for hours of continued running at high loadings I'm guessing they've covered it somehow ! I'm not sure this car will sell, unless somebody comes in with a realistic bid in this last 24 hours I assume they've protected it with a reserve and on BAT that is only indicated by it not being declared as a no reserve auction which this one isn't. MichaelH
I would be very nice to have but the blurb says it runs on 110 octane fuel so not really compatible with racing in the country! Michael
oldtuckunder
Didn't hit reserve at $7800, which isn't surprising (i.e. that the reserve was higher) If it had sold at that I'd have been kicking myself to kingdom come, even with shipping taxes it would have made a great Class 3 Championship car for peanuts! oldtuckunder
I see someone has added a comment that its up for sale at $19.5K
Motorsport Mickey
Current exchange makes £15600 or thereabouts plus £2k UK shipping makes £17600.00 in the UK plus taxes...damn cheap when you cost up what's hiding inside that engine. That's a £30k plus UK prepped car. Mick Richards
