EdwinTiben
I re-used the pully of my old dynamo on this alternator http://www.ratsport.com/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=9667761 But now for the looks i replaced it with the alternator in a classic housing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stealth-Dynamator-Dynamo-Alternator-Conversion-Lucas-C45-Positive-Earth-45amp-/331781555224
RobH
You can fit the standard dynamo wide pulley to any alternator provided the shaft diameter is correct, and it will work but you won't get the full benefit of charge at low revs because the pulley diameter is too big. You really need a smaller-diameter wide pulley to get the most from the conversion.

Geko
I re-used the pully of my old dynamo on this alternator http://www.ratsport.com/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=9667761 With this alternator, the diameter of the shaft is too small to accommodate the old pulley. I had to fiddle with the new pulley -which isn't a "pulley"- in adding a 4 mm shim between the 2 plates of the "pulley" so it could accommodate a wide belt but then the shaft becomes a bit short to accommodate the nut. It works but ooooh...
EdwinTiben
Now that does look nice! and works fine !
RobH
This has been discussed in earlier threads and there is experience that the alternator-in-a dynamo-housing is prone to failure from lack of proper cooling. There is a reason for alternators being well-ventilated.
