BrianC
I removed all the carpets from my TR to remove and replace the gearbox and would like to clean them before refitting them. I know woollen carpets are not a good idea in a car which is used and abused as mine is, but the colour we wanted (signal red to match the seats and other interior trim) when the car was rebuilt was only available in wool from John Skinner. Apart from some fading due to the sun, they are still mostly in good condition but have some oil and grease stains. I don't have a carpet cleaner (e.g. Vax, etc) or steam-cleaner so can anyone recommend a commonly available cleaning product suitable for a quick clean-up and non-damaging to wool? Alec Pringle
Hire a carpet cleaner from your local DIY store ? Otherwise a solution of washing machine type soap flakes (not detergent powder) does a reasonable job. Lukewarm water though, neither hot nor cold, and stretch back into shape whilst damp and drying ! Cheers Alec Edited February 15, 2017 by Alec Pringle
iain
Try Autoglym Foam interior cleaner......Try on a non visible area to check for colour fastness. I have found it brilliant on most types of interior trim. Iain
