ctc77965o
Hi Chris, No Horn On V Day?? You say you have 'power to the slip ring'...but the slip ring should be earthed...you have a problem with the earth route down the column to the steering rack...do your flexible joints have earth straps? if you earth the wire to the horn push then the horn sounds, right?? dave Edited February 14, 2017 by ctc77965o
Grahamgl
Chris, From the picture showing the steering wheel, with a bit of wire, bridge beteeen the visible end of the horn pencil and the visible end of the steering column. The horn should work. Check the horn fuse, it should be adjacent to the horn location, Purple wire from memory. If not then check the earthing continuity from the top of the steering column. As Dave says the rubber/flexible joints should each have an earth strap. If you have replaced the bottom flexible joint with a metal knuckle joint, a la TR6, check that you have continuity across that as well. Graham
riverstar
Everything checked out and after fiddling with the horn push stuck it back and it worked, I can only assume that the spring on the side of the horn push wasn't making a good earth on the steering wheel boss
RogerH
Hi Chris, as you have found out, make sure ALL the contact areas are clean bare metal. New hubs tend to be painted - not good for our cars. Roger
