AndrewMAshton
Hello, I have the Retro Radio fitted and the only comment I would make is the very thin nuts that hold the radio in place only have a couple of threads so they can be a bit of a faff, I had some brass ones made up, all I can remember was that it was a Model Makers thread and needed a size R drill for the tap, cheers, Andrew
pfenlon
Seems a lot of money Bill surely there is a better cheaper alternative?
Graham Harris
Absolute rubbish first one worked on the bench when fitted to the car wouldn't work ,sent it back to the USA manufacturer who replaced it, this time it worked ok in the car but after about three months it refused to find any stations and eventually wouldn't even turn on. Don't do it Graham

MRG1965
Hello all I'm considering buying one of these Has anyone bought one ? If so are you pleased ? http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/retrosound-classic-radios-40823.html Thank you best Bill Hi Fitted a Zuma to my TR4 convertible with 4 speakers, 2 years ago. Purchased through another seller (birthday present from wife). Worked fine for a while then I noticed the sound was getting quite and then totally mute. Sent it back and it was replaced. Have to say can't really hear it above 50mph anyway. But they do look period and mine plays MP3's via a plug in usb port. Not sure if the modern electronics suffers from the 50's/60's design and rattling. But I'm thinking of sourcing a period radio, if a working one can be found at a sensible price. And maybe MX5 seats with speakers in the head rests. Mark
PaulAnderson
http://www.classiccarstereo.co.uk/ Very helpful people, give them a call Tom I queried this company / radio on http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/56404-fm-radio-with-usb-input-and-12v-output-socket/ Tom, what was your experience of the Classic Car Stereo (Autosounds) radio itself as the alternative Retro Radio seems to have reliability issues judging by some comments? Bill Bourne
Thank you Tom - That's good to hear, I'm going to get one. best regards Bill Update - Bought one - a model 2, and now fitted into the TR5 last weekend. The spindles for the knobs are separate and a real FaF to get into the right position. But all works and seems to work very well. best Bill
AndrewMAshton
Hello, what about speakers?, any advice on the best speakers so you can hear Elvis when hitting 50 mph, also, my current speakers are in the footwell, is there a better spot?, cheers, Andrew
Murty
I put one of these in my TR6. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Caliber-RCD110B-MP3-Retro-Radio/dp/B00630VTY2. Doesn't look quite as retro, comes in Chrome as well, is a standard DIN fit but is a lot more competitively priced. Can't remember whether I got mine from Amazon or another source but they are widely available and its also available under different brands. It works fine (when the rest of the wiring holds up) and top end quality sound isn't really relevant when installed in a TR. Dave

These are 4" speakers, and as Dave mentions above I also didn't see the need to use high end speakers in a TR either. However, I went to my local Halfords and they had some very nice end of line JBL speakers on offer. £10 !! plus some 5" inch speakers for the rear for £15 ! So bought both sets. I have to say that the 4" inch speakers have a lovely sound. Far better than expected. So I assume things will get even better when I fit the rear speakers. RogerH
Hi Folks, I removed my soopa doopa ultra-modern radio from the 4A earlier this year as I needed space for switches etc. However after many months of self induced silence I find myself craving for a little melody to go with the tappets. This morning I bought a JBL blue tooth speaker box into which it will accept a USB stik with my own record collect on (mainly 78's and cylinders) It is a JBL Xtreme and looks very modern. A short while ago I plugged a USB stik in th ehole at the back and, and, and - nothing. I'll have to read the destructions. There was also a very natty Marshal variety but it did not accept a USB stik. Roger
RobH
Roger - maks sure the USB stick is formatted in a way which the JBL can recognise. Most USB-input music devices seem to only read sticks formatted as FAT32 - not NTFS format which is what most PCs will default to.
RogerH
Hi Rob, have just gone on-line to see what the USB sockets do - they don;t do music They are power outputs for charging. Back to PCWorld. Roger
had17462
Bill where did you fit the aerial Nick
Bill Bourne
Hi Nick Haven't got a photo, but on the rear deck - not where most people put them, but N/S rear, very near to the corner of the boot lid. I've used a power/amp ariel with a removable whip, so that you can remove if necc and or course it's flexible + it doesn't need very much any mast space under the deck - I guess about 3 inches. I can send photos if you want, just let me know best Bill
