Bill Bourne
Hello wise ones - I'm about to try and find out why, after fitting the foot pedal assembly to the TR5. The brake and clutch pedals don't line up level with each other. I suspect it can only be the aftermarket clutch master cylinder bracket or the master cylinder fork ? Has anyone had this issue before ? Also on the original cardboard tunnel, whats the little bracket for ? Front n/s Pictures attached Thank you best Bill Edited February 6, 2017 by Bill Bourne
Kevo_6
Hi Bill The little brackets I think are the side console fixings, should be one each side. Sorry don't know about the pedal alignment.
stuart
Check the length of the pushrod on the original Clutch master to the new one as they are often different, check also the depth of the fork on the brake servo. The bracket could be for side panels but would have thought there would be a corresponding one the other side in that case. Stuart.
boxofbits
Hi Bill It doesn't look a particularly sturdy bracket. I wondered if it was anything to do with routing the overdrive solenoid loom? From the photo it looks like the brake pedal might be a bit high, though not always easy to see from a picture. If you're using the original brake master and other original parts you took off it should be right. Regards Kevin
Kevo_6
It sort of shows the brackets here http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr5-6/interior/cockpit-fittings/cockpit-trim-kits-tr5-tr250-tr6-to-c-cp-cc50000.html Item no 56.
Bill Bourne
Hi All Resolved the brake / clutch pedal issue - Stuart you were right. The clutch master cylinder fork was too short. Supplied by TRW. Picture attached - the correct one being the longer of the 2. Another small factor. I bought an aftermarket s.steel clutch master cylinder bracket. Looked nice and looked as though it would fit nicely, but on the actual fit, the master cylinder did not sit totally flat within the bracket housing due to the way the captive nuts had been welded. That meant the master cylinder sat backwards a smidge. So that needed to ground down around the captive nuts so that a flat surface could be achieved. Little things and repro parts drive you nuts.. !!! I still don't know what the little bracket on the tunnel was for, so it's been taken off, otherwise it will foul the carpet fitting later one. Rockie51
As Kevo said, the brackets are to hold the the side console panels. If you have a look at the Moss diagram, the screws that hold the panels go into those brackets. I have those panels on my 4A and had to make my own brackets. Wish I'd known that you could buy them! Yes that would make sense. Although I believe the 5 and 4a's etc, didn't have side panels, so this tunnel might have been a replacement to the original and only one of the brackets remains. Anyway, I've taken this off, as I will be fitting some side panels later, using TR6 H Frame and probably a cross bracket to hold them together as per the TR6 fitting. best Bill
