Now I think of it I have seen some thin nyloc jam nuts at the local hardware store. These nuts dont need to be tight, they just need to not move.. Stan Quote Link to post Share on other sites

It is not really a manifold issue Neil. To accommodate the cups and the uncompressed rubber the studs need to be as long as you can reasonably use given the limited space before the stud hits the carb body. In my case there is not room to get a nut on the stud unless I pull the carb away from the manifold slightly. Once I tighten the nyloc nut to get the desired 2mm clearance between the cups the nyloc plastic ring is barely engaged on the stud. Thinner nyloc jam nuts will fix it for sure.
