Overdrive Electrics

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have an aftermarket (revington) fuse box. It has 8 fuses. The LH 4 fuses are always live to the battery. The RH four are via the ignition, so only on when the ignition is on. I have fixed an overdrive fault by finding the RH bank of fuses do not show a voltage when ignition on. The overdrive worked perfect when I moved the fused switch / solenoid circuits from the RH circuit to the LH. I will need to repair the fault to the RH circuit, not yet traced. The overdrive solenoid now clicks in when in gear without the ignition on.

My question is, does anyone know if I am likely to do any damage to the overdrive electrics, having them in the LH (always live) circuit? Does the overdrive draw any current when not engaged / engine off, that may drain the battery? I did it a couple of days ago, no problem so far, but it only just occurred to me and thought I would check.

Regards, Martin
