Savannah Dog
Hi Y'all I'm across the pond. So will someone enlighten me as to a suppler for British pipe. What I want to do is to utilize the Triumph TR4A"s Heater valve on a 52 Chevy intake manifold in order to warm it. What I need is: Street Ell (sp) ,short nipple, And coupling. Also the size of the pipe I'd be looking for ?
james christie
Goodluck in your search for enlightenment! I think I have lived away from blighty for too long. I can no longer understand why a red jacket is called pink or a white horse is grey. Now as to understanding the BSP table on an other thread where a screw width of 5/8 th of an inch is described as a 1/4in is completely beyond me james
Motorsport Mickey
Hey Grasslands Pooch have a look at this , will it help ? http://www.bspt.co.uk/ Mick Richards
RogerH
Hi SD, this valve fits directly onto the TR4 cylinder head and works better than the original http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Everco-Heater-Control-Valve/_/N-91sh0?itemIdentifier=135681&_requestid=7124741 The thread is 1/2"BSPT(tapered). The thread in the head is 3/8" BSP - there is an adaptor Here is the Moss number #61 http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr2-4a/heating-ventilation/heaters-vents-fittings/heating-tr4-4a.html Good luck Roger Edited February 2, 2016 by RogerH
AlanT
The dimension used to describe them is the diameter of the HOLE in the pipe. A 1/2 in iron pipe is about 3/4in outside diameter, wall thickness is about 1/8in. As regards the threads: https://mdmetric.com/tech/thddat7.htm Note that unlike SAE fasteners, many sizes share the same thread pitch. This is to allow "adaptors" from one size to another to be made with the ID thread inside the OD thread:
Motorsport Mickey
Cor...British Standard Pipe, Japanese Pipe Taper, where's the fabled Black Russian then ? Mick Richards
AlanT
Now I see you want a supplier of pipe. Do you want copper, steel, cupro-nickel, brass? We have lots of BSP fittings here but the pipes are often Metric. Maybe this helps: http://www.glrkennions.co.uk/brass-copper-tube.html
Alec Pringle
Hi Mick, Black Russian are cigarettes . . . . . I suspect you're looking for Balkan Sobranie ! Cheers Alec
graeme
I used Home Depot to obtain Brass NPT fittings which work just fine. They are so close to BSP to not matter in this case although I wouldn't recommend it for a device under serious pressure. The Everco valve that Roger suggests will probably be NPT anyway. Cheers Graeme
