TR6 rear floor ( diff floor )

Recommended Posts

Thanks Colin, PM sent. I'm amazed that such an important part isn't still available....I may have to consider making a press tool up as I could do with 2 now as I've managed to end up with 2 cars to restore now and seeing as they also fit the 4 & 5 it makes sense to make a few extra if I can.

If you could get that pressed out in 18 SWG (1.2mm) then Im sure Moss would like to hear from you. Problem I am finding with a lot of the new repro panels are they are being pressed in 20 SWG (1mm) and it is too thin and will warp all over the place when welding in and worst of all compromise the strength of the shell.

I've designed it for 1.2mm which is the original thickness. I did try Rimmers but they wanted a full assembly as per their catalogue and TRGB said they weren't interested as they never get asked for them. Bit weird. However, I'll hopefully press about 20 out and see how it goes.

Steve,

Putting my Toolroom engineer brown coat back on, are you going to make a male/female tool ? or just a male.

It's going to be a male/female, and the top ( male plate ) should give me a 20mm drop flange ( like the original ) for attaching the heel plate & inner arches. The only bit I won't replicate are the tank bumps as I'll probably make some threaded bosses instead to save bolts going outside and rusting solid.

It's a little way off yet as I'm awaiting a free cnc miller, but hopefully get it on in the next couple of weeks. By the ' kick panel ' I'm guessing you mean what I call the heel board, the vertical panel in front of the diff floor with the small propshaft tunnel attached? If you do, then these are still available. I may also make the brackets which hold the diff floor to the diff bridge, as mine are fairly rusty.
