meesonia
Hello On behalf of a friend, yes it really is my friend, I'm asking if anyone knows of the existence of a TR4A reg number KKK 834E? a DVLA search has come up blank, so it may have circumbed to the tin worm, or worse. There is a slightly interesting back story to this which if I can bore you with is this - The friend bought about 9 months ago a MK1 Escort Mexico, he was interested in finding it’s history so wrote to the DVLA, anyway he ended up in touch with the original purchaser of the Mexico, a Gentleman who lives in Hastings, and is around 75 years old, but very much a spring chicken according to my friend. Being an ex accountant he had kept copious records of everything be bought for the Mex including running costs, apparently he and his wife also took part in local club road rallies. Running the car for quite a few years putting 104k miles on it. He sounds quite an interesting guy from what my friend has said.Anyway they have communicated quite regularly, culminating in the gentleman and his wife calling at my friends house (in Yorkshire by the way) on the way back from a holiday in Scotland to re acquaint themselves with the Mex, as my friend said you can imagine there were a few damp eyes. The gentleman also brought with him loads more documents from when he purchased the car, including sales brochures and all sorts. However, in the course of the conversation it came out that he had also owned a TR4A, in the early Seventies, and was wondering if it was still around. I don’t think he wants to make contact with anyone, but is simply interested to know if it is still living.Sorry to have rambled on, but sometimes these Classic Car stories have strange twists. Hope you can help? Many thanks.Best regardsIan Meeson
