MadMarx
it was announced by YTCC racing series that the Le Mans Turbo TR8 of Bert Smeets is preparing to enter races next year. That would mean that it might happens to have both of them in one race ??? I think that will give some unique shots to have 2 known old race cars on the track. Alec Pringle
Hi Chris, yes it's looking like Bert will finally get the TR8 finished over the winter. First get the engine running again . . . . . Then renew the tyres, and all the FIA safety equipment . . . . . now past their use-by date Then perhaps recreate the original 1980/81 spoiler rather than the 1982 version currently fitted . . . . . Then recommission everything else after 6 years in store ! The TR8 last ran in summer 2009, Silverstone, so there will be a lot of work to do in the coming months. And a good deal of funds to be found !! Cheers Alec
Alec Pringle
Unfinished business, as Bert refers to the TR8 . . . . currently in progress again . . . . Cheers Alec

It struggled a lot in the past and should start winning when sorted out. Race cars were made for racing and not for storing. Funds are usually a problem with racers .... Alec Pringle
It's always good to see TRs, any TRs, out on the track. The involvement of the TR Register in supporting the ADA/Janspeed/TR Register entry at La Sarthe was unique, at the time a very considerable number of Register enthusiasts were involved in assisting the team one way or another, and without that assistance the car would never have made it on to the track. So the TR8 Turbo Le Mans holds a special place in the folklore of the club, a monumental endeavour that almost made it, but for Fortune and a degree of French chicanery. We've been waiting a long time to see the car finally repeat that double ton down the Mulsanne, and with no disrespect to the Young Timers Series, it doesn't even begin to come close to the hope that one day we'll have the chance to see the car on full song at Le Mans. Who knows, everything comes to him who waits long enough . . . . . Cheers Alec
TriumphV8
It's always good to see TRs, any TRs, out on the track. ..... and to hear! Wonderful sound! What might have happened if the Rover would have found its way earlier into the Triumph series, maybe STAG and TR 6 ????

MadMarx
Hope they get to race on these shores ? Cheers John Hi John, the TC will come to England again. Cadwell Park is the target. But I think the TR8 will stay at home. Cadwell is not the right track for it. Cheers Chris
MichaelH
I assume you still need international C licence for TC in UK? Michael
