ianc Posted November 16, 2015 Report Share Posted November 16, 2015 Many, many moons ago, I obtained a Castrol lubrication chart for my TR2 (it covers TR3 as well), and when I acquired 4VC in 1969, I obtained the TR4/4A version. Approaching the 50th anniversary of the TR4's launch, I asked Castrol whether we might reproduce the TR4/4A chart, and permission was granted at no cost, so we produced a laminated version from my master copy for the TR4@50 event at the International at Harrogate in 2011. A few months ago, Jo Whitty asked me about the TR2/3 version, so I lent her my master copy and the office now has both the TR2/3 and the TR4/4A charts available in laminated form, so ideal for the garage wall! At the NEC Show, Jo asked me whether I had the TR6 chart. I don't, but I am wondering whether any member has the chart in a decent state (not torn or covered in grubby finger marks!) and would be prepared to loan it for a short while in order that copies may be produced. If so, please let me know by PM or by email to my home (see page 82 of TR Action). Lest anyone be concerned about copyright, Castrol granted permission for reproduction by the TR Register of the lubrication charts on all TR models for the benefit of our members, and Jo has a copy of that letter. Don H. Posted November 20, 2015 Report Share Posted November 20, 2015 Thanks, Wayne. The TR2-3 one wasn't in the shop when I looked the other day -- only the TR4-4A version. I'm glad they've updated it -- I'm going to be in the UK in a couple of weeks and I'll be able to have a copy sent to my friends for local collection. I have a copy of Mike Hado's (VTR) most excellent wiring diagram on my garage wall, and that Castrol lubrication chart will make a nice companion piece. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Don H. Posted December 17, 2015 Report Share Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) I picked up the TRR laminated version of TR2-3B Castrol lubrication chart last weekend during a visit to the UK. Approximately A3 sized, PE laminated, full-color (and pre-patinated from a worn original copy, distinctly more yellowed than the photo shown in the webshop listing). Pretty good value at £4.50 plus about £2 postage. (note that my two copies were shipped flat within the UK, not in the poster tube noted on the TRR shop website) Edited December 17, 2015 by Don H. ianc Posted December 18, 2015 Author Report Share Posted December 18, 2015 Both the TR4/4A and TR2/3 charts were copied, with written permission from Castrol, from the originals in my possession, which have been kept in my filing cabinet for some 45 and 52 years, respectively, so should not have faded appreciably. As to the colour of the print versus the webshop, I can say only that the copies I saw at the NEC Show in November looked pretty true to my originals, but it's correct that my TR2/3 version shows minor evidence of my use in the 1960s (but only minor, and the marks in no way obscure the data). I'm hoping still that someone will have a Castrol chart for the 6-pot TR and will be willing to make it available to the club so that it may be reproduced for the benefit of other members. I don't have a scanned version of the TR2/3 chart and it is too large for me to undertake a scan at home.
