YankeeTR5
Hi All, I thought I'd tap into the wisdom on this forum regarding a car for sale here in the US on eBay. Its a LHD TR5, nothing too unusual there, but what is unusual is that a Heritage certificate is presented that shows it to be a LHD and shows the engine/VIN and options with a delivery point of Portugal. I thought the lhd 5's bound for mainland Europe came out of Malines as a CKD. I'm guessing the car is authentic so am wondering if the collective wisdom can shed some light on how many LHD 5's were produced in the UK. I know (or thought anyway) that cars bound for Latin American and other lhd countries (including special order cars for Canada) came out of the UK, however, I could be way off on that assumption. SO hoping for clarity on this. Fortunately, the car is only about 15 miles from me and I'm going to try to check it out this weekend (not to buy...I already have one) more to inform the 6-pack registry as there's been some curiosity about it. Appreciate any info on this. Here's the car: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triumph-Other-/171905516298?forcerrptr=true&hash=item28065e030a&item=171905516298
graeme
I am fairly sure some LHD cars were built in Coventry. The cars built in Malines were for the Common Market and Portugal did not enter the common market until the mid eighties. Also, the Malines cars had a VIN with a '1' prefix and P suffix.
