Paul Harvey
2015 TRIUMPH ITALIA REUNION From Sunday 31 May to Sunday 7 June 2015 I am delighted to invite all triumph fans to an International event for TRIUMPH ITALIAS from Sunday May 31st to Sunday 7th June 2014. An unprecedented selection of cars and owners will converge and stay at a delightful vineyard farm just outside the panoramic hamlet of La Morra, in the heart of the Barolo valley, just south of Turin in Northern Italy. Surrounded by the Langhe region and its beautiful castles, a full itinerary of special trips and events is planned to drive our Italias as the factory intended and in the area where they were made. The schedule allows plenty of time to indulge individual tastes, and the TUESDAY special event is to Turin where we shall meet and talk to people who were involved with the factory at the time. We shall also see the world famous collection of cars at the Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile. Relatives of Vignale and Ruffino are scheduled to join us to talk about their families who originally made the cars. We already have promises of attendance from all over Europe, and even from the USA. Some owners , ex-owners, and aspiring owners will attend in other TR sports cars, so we can expect a truly International and varied gathering of Italia friends and supporters. The UK contingent will set off with Paul Harvey (#215) Graham Andrews (#82) and Adrian Sinnott (#3 and #311) driving to Portsmouth on FRIDAY AFTERNOON 29 MAY and on the overnight ferry to St. Malo. We shall rendezvous in RENNES, FRANCE with Italia #244 and drive through France to stay overnight around CHAMBERY. The final leg of the journey on SUNDAY MORNING will be to take the Galibier and Lautaret passes to Briancon, Setriere, Pinerolo, Cavour, Saluzzo, Savigliano and finally into La Morra. We would be delighted to see any TR Register Members at any stage of the journey, and if anyone can get to the La Morra area to join in the fun please don't be shy - just let me know. Paul Harvey
Love the dark red No225 very good colour. Cars looked very at home in the Italian setting. Stuart. Interesting comment. There were 3 owners there restoring cars and yet to choose a final paint colour. All 3 thought the dark red was favourite after seeing it in the flesh. Unfortunately my photographer did not get there until the 3rd day by which time 3 Italias had already left so the first appearance of Italia #30 in a gorgeous light metallic blue went unrecorded. Anecdotal evidence suggests that #225 in that dark red may even be the 'original' Italia red, but if so it differs considerably from the printed brochures of the time. stuart
The only problem with a suddenly popular colour is you get them all doing it and it no longer stands out from the crowd. The best bit about these cars is hardly any two are the same colour. Stuart.
Italia 227
I can sympathize, having taken about eight years to select the final color dark red for my car (my spouse found this hilarious). I always knew it would be red, but couldn't find the right dark shade, typically accomplished with more blue tint. Color we selected is great, although it always photographs too light, or looking orange-y. Three questions I get at shows (in order): what is it ? How many did they make ? Do you have the code for that paint color ? Edited June 9, 2015 by Italia
