RogerH
Not quite a 'who' more of an 'eek eek' For the last couple of years there are has been an eek eek type noise as we are driving along. As we know about noises in cars the cause may not be where the eek eek is coming from. Was it the front number plate - no! the noise is from the rear near side (could still be the front number plate) I ckecked most areas that could move. Last summer I changed the drive shaft (desperation has no price) but the noise persisted. Changed the hubs - noise still there.Checked the chassis for cracking. Is the body leaving the chassis - no. Solidly rusted in place. So, today I bit the bullet (yuk) and took the whole of the rear nearside suspension out. TRailing arm off , every thing. The two TA brackets were cracked - just like last summer on the offside - but not quite as bad. But lo and behold upon cleaning the TA I noticed three very shiny deep fretted depressions. Similar to the shiny bits on the coils of the spring. Bingo we've found it (probably). I think part of the problem was the rubber isolator discs. One or other had misshaped itself and allowed the spring to slide sideways and touch the TA body. Tomorrow I finish the job - please. Roger

RogerH
Took the car out for a test run and the 'eek eek' has done a runner. So, if you have a noise don't just blame sensible/logical things. Take things apart and look for the signs. Sue was asking about the title - 'doesn't make any sense' Horton was/is a cartoon character and he heard a a who. So he set off to find who owned it. It came from a Hoo. Or was that the other film.
