John L
Are these easy to change, or are they like the wheel hubs that your need a big puller or press with the possibility of distorting the flange getting it apart? No doubt a press may be a better option? Are the new seals still leather ones or are they now the better rubber type material? John
GT6M
Ello John, the seals are rubber, but I think OE leather,ns can still be got. as for splitt,n the thing, ye need a BIGG press just did some and the gauge read 45tons when it went. leave the nuts on, but loose,nd off a few threads, this to stop the thing going like a rocket across the work shop when it breaks off the taper never been able to tek em off with a puller either And need a good suppport to stop the flange bending prefferably 2 haifs, so it wraps aroond the shaft M
Mark69
Hi John My local engineering shop removed mine , he reckoned he put over 50 tonnes of pressure .
graeme
I have done a few diffs just recently, the diff output shafts are doable with a puller but I got 6 tons on the press. The talk of 45/50 tonnes is surely for the hub bearing? Cheers Graeme
foster461
The stub axle flange can be a pig to get off, the usual tapered interface. My local machine shop took mine apart using his small press and it went with a bang. It would not surprise me if you need a 50 ton press if they are really stuck on. TR NIALL
20 Ton Press did nothing for this and 50 Ton only made Scrap of it,Heated Flange and Froze Shaft still did not budge.
