Jonathan_bell
Hi, can any one tell me how I can identify what cam I have fitted to my car, it's a CR engine. And my next question will be how can I check that I have the correct metering unit for that Cam. Many thanks Jon
Richard71
Hi Jon, Firstly, assuming the camshaft is out of the engine, locate the part # on the camshaft and take it from there. Any metering unit will do, it just has to be tune & tweaked to suit your camshaft. Richard.
Jonathan_bell
Hi Richard, thanks for the response. No the Cam is still in the car, I purchased a refurbished metering unit from Neil but not sure if it is optimised for my system, Getting 12mpg
astontr6
Hi John! Please check your compression with engine hot with throttle fully open on all cylinders. Based upon 4 to 5 compression strokes per cylinder. Min reading 175lb/sq in. Vacuum reading S/B around 14Hg (850 to 900 RPM) at tick over measured from servo take off for a CR engine. Note there are 3 different vacuum readings for the 3 types of PI engines!!! For OEM part number for the camshaft this is engraved or stamped on camshaft between the lobes, 311399 refers. Then advise us! Bruce
