Starter Motor gremlins

Recommended Posts

I thought the forum had gone quiet, I didn't realise we were onto the second page.

I have taken the motor to Rimmers to compare to a reconditioned one. All the components on the shaft appeared to be the same size and they were all present. All the components on the recon unit were tight and the big spring would need to be compressed to remove the circlip, I was able to remove mine with a screwdriver without compressing the spring.

We then compared the length of the shaft extending from the motor housing. They were different which explained why the components were loose. I have cut my losses and bought the recon motor.

Thanks to everyone for their help and advice.

Kevin
