Flying_Demon
Hi All, I came across this on e-bay, looks interesting and I suspect pretty rare? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1963-Triumph-GTR4-Dove-/161607372954?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item25a08cd09a

peejay4A
I'm intrigued. It says it's up for auction but has a classified ad price which they say is a guide price. Does that mean they're just using eBay as an advertising medium? If so, is that kosher? Edited February 19, 2015 by peejay4A
Alec Pringle
I'd guess that with 142 classified ads running, ebay are happy to bend the rules that might more usually apply to me and thee . . . . ? Can't say I'd comfortably associate the word kosher with any classic auction . . . . . something of an oxymoron, perchance ? Caveat emptor might be nearer the mark. Cheers Alec
peejay4A
The point I was making is that they clearly have no intention of selling through eBay. Why would eBay want to turn a blind eye to that? It's not something I would consider doing but then I guess I'm naive like that.
Alec Pringle
Yes I take your point Pete, and I think it's crackers too . . . . . If I was ebay I wouldn't accept the ads either. But these are Classified Ads, and 142 of them at £14.99 apiece is over £2K of fees . . . . . I'd guess ebay found that an irresistible proposition ? Something of an irony, a traditional auction house advertising its sales on the 'Bay ! Cheers Alec

flatlandsman
The Dove in Bil's book belongs to Gary S and is very well known in the TR Register; see this month's Classic & Sportscar
Paul Harvey
The car appears to have been unsold at auction yesterday: http://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2015-03-07/cars/1963-triumph-gtr4-dov%C3%A9.aspx?p= I am very interested in the 'Dove of Wimbledon' badge attached to the dashboard which is similar to another I have seen with dealership telephone numbers. Apparently such a badge was fitted to all cars sold by this dealership (not just Doves.) If anyone know where I could find an original of this badge please let me know. I am prepared to pay a substantial price.
Paul Harvey
Apparently there was also a different badge supplied to the Dove dealership from 1958 - 1962 as below. I would also be interested in one of these and any information about the badges generally.
