What make of Brake/Clutch Fluid

Recommended Posts

Hi Erik,

not a great deal. The pipes are very small the cylinders don;t hold that much.

A litre will see you out.

Roger

Oh good Roger, thank you. I was not sure how many litres to order, that is cleared up now.

Have a good day,

Erik

The supplier where I buy my grease and oils has several DOT4 choices: Castrol, Repsol, Lucas, Millers, Motul, Castrol React Performance, Castgrol SRF Racing, Mobil. I want the very best, what should I choose? Prices differ quite a bit amongst his offerings but I want me to be guided by the best quality, not price.

In terms of a high boiling point appropriate for competition and Alp storming as well as normal road use, Motul RBF 600 would be my preference, but I would not use RBF 660 which is more of a pure competition formulation.

Bear in mind that this kind of high-performance brake fluid tends to have a shorter effective working life than less exotic varieties, and will need changing every two years at the longest.

Cheers,

Alec

Must admit I replaced all my fluids with DOT 5 silicon 2 years ago. (Auto Etc). The fluid is still clean in both brake and clutch systems. I’ve not had to replenish either of them. I replaced the seals in one of the calipers just to see the internal condition, (thinking if that one is good the other will be the same or similar), I did replace both rear cylinders though when I rebuilt the back end. The master cylinder had been replaced by mr bodger the servo looks original.

The brakes work just fine.
