Steve.b Posted October 29, 2014 Report Share Posted October 29, 2014 Guys, I have a leak from a rear brake cylinder on my TR4 and on closer inspection noticed that the master cylinder also has a slight leak and the subsequent dripping fluid has started to do its dastardly work to the paint beneath. My question really, is after dealing with the cylinders I'm considering using a silicone brake fluid rather than the conventional and wondered what the pros and cons might be. I'd be particularly interested to know if it's necessary to flush the system through with some kind of cleaning agent before changing over to silicone. Many thanks. Dot 5 and Dot 5.1 are totally incompatible. And we think that all the rubber seals although compatible with both glycol and silicone may not like being exposed first to one then the other.
