Hi,

I'm 3rd driver on a Triumph TR4 #73, owned by Robert Hamilton.

Some other famous UK TR4 guys are on the list. White, Wetherall, Campbell to name only 3 of many more.

Not sure if we can keep up the pace with the Marcos cars but anyway...my first try on a 6H race in the dark.

Cheers

Chris

BTW.....how do I say correctly in future.

Is UK in future "almost UK" or "UK without Scotland" or is UK dropped and replaced by another term?

We are there with a big team.

2 TR4

1 Jag

1 Healey 3000

Many spanners around.

But thanks for asking.

We are pitting at boxes 43-45

John, if Scotland leave the UK, we will still have the United Kingdom of England, Wales and Northern Ireland!

See you at Spa!

Cheers

So "almost united kingdom" would be the right term? AUK?

:D

Ha Chris,

We did not manage to offload the Jocks!

Good stuff on the S6 entry. Marcos's should not really be in GTS11 - mots people know that anyway (they weigh next to nothing and shaped like a dart).

Be intersting to see how you go against Mark.

I'm not spannering for Big Dick this year (3 years was enough!).

It didn't turn out well for us.

On the first stint we lost the rear wheel.

Car got repaired and I went out to get the car to a 45th position.

I never drove so slow. White/Payne flew past me on straights and corners.

On my last lap I ran in the dark into a heavy drop of rain and lost it. Way too fast.

I didn't see the rain coming.

I crashed the car and after about 10 minutes I got pulled out of the gravel.

I drove the car to the pits. Front wheel got something but the 3rd driver went out with what was left and we finished on position 64.

BTW...on his stint the wiper passed away and he had no sight.

Cheers

Chris

Got to admire drivers for their effort and endurance, hard work and long concentration but harder when problems occur.

Rainex helps but wipers are better and driving without them takes a special kind of enthusiasm!!

TR results were mixed, White /Payne got 13 others only got to 10 - 20 laps but better be there than not!

Search for the gear lever...if you are sitting on the right side.

After car was saved and the lost wheel found its way down the hill to the pitlane. Axle change and a set of new wheels.

Chris

Sorry to hear it didn't go well

How did you lose a rear wheel?

Graze

Hi,

we had fun, great party after and the damage is not too bad.

Our first driver lost the wheel. It seems that the rims were new and powder coated.

The coating got hot and that had losen the wheel nuts.

All bolts sheared off.

That happened in Eau Rouge. The lost wheel rebounded on the tire wall and found its way cross over the track and back to the pits by running down the pit exit road where it got caught by the corner workers. So the wheel was back first , the car took a little longer from its parking position to the paddock.

Cheers

Chris

Chris, good to know that you were all safe and sound despite the conditions.

I never like to see race car damage. No matter how common practice it is, it always highlights the amount of time and effort (and £$€) that goes into a highly risky hobby.

As you will see from my avatar, windscreen wipers were less of an issue in my last single seater race (although why I wore a black visor in heavy rain defeats me).

There is something about racing on the rain, the reduced level of grip sorts the brave and skilled from the rest of us; but what must be dramatically changing conditions around somewhere like Spa must be real challenge.

Spa is on my comeback/bucket-list/retirement single seater year in 2016.

Would love to see any on-boards you have around Spa.

Our car had no camera installed. The owner don't care about videos and there was no camera available at the track.

But there are old videos from sprint races of my own car at Youtube.

Chris,

OMG - No camera................

Big Dick had his wheel do the same first year I helped out. "ON THE FIRST LAP". But a front wheel, he drove over 2 miiles on the disc. Nice flat spot on it but other wise fine, we put a fresh wheel on and he finished well!
