Propshaft Removal

Recommended Posts

Worth putting file marks on the round bits that bolt together so you re-assemble in the same possy as it is now.

If it goes back 90 deg out you can get vibration problems.Dunno about yours but mine (tailshaft) has a bit of steel shim welded on for balance in one spot.

Uh Oh!

One of the old blokes I worked with years ago told me of an incident when he was talked into navigating for an outback rally on the dirt.

They had been eating the dust of a similarly powered car for yonks, when an opportunity to pass came up. The driver flattened it and they gradually crept up until they were alongside doing about 70 MPH.

At that stage the passee gave them a quick nudge on the side which immediately flicked them 180 degrees, and now doing 70 backwards. He said the propshaft immediately came up through the floor and the car filled with little rubber rings bouncing all over the place.

It was in the days of heavy laminated rubber universal joints on the propshaft.
