rhino_mac
Just wanted to get peoples thoughts on this. My car was imported in 1991 from the US and I have the US title document saying the year of the car is 1960. This information has been noted on the DVLA V5 and the car was given an age related number plate (all in 1993 from memory). Looking at the information, it looks like the car was actually manufacturing in 1959 and I would like to get the V5 accurate. Although I would always get an MOT, in theory the car doesn't need one. I was going to apply for a Heritage certificate but I understand they don't hold the information for TR3's this age, Bill Piggott does. Would the DVLA accept information such as this? It's only a small thing, but as the V% has the car down as the original Blue (it's Green now) and no engine numbers on there, I thought I might as well update it all at the same time. Any thoughts? BillS
Checked my Heritage Certificate, for my 59 3A, they certainly hold the info for my car, also imported from USA. Shows quite a lot of info including date of build and original engine number. Don't know if DVLA accept this as proof or not. Cheers, Bill
rhino_mac
Excellent, I must have misunderstood that then.
Alec Pringle
Hi Richard, the Heritage records are incomplete, some pages having become illegible over time . . . . so not every 3A can be precisely identified by them. As far as I know, the records to which Bill has access are complete - he is 'our' representative as far as DVLA are concerned. Cheers Alec
mike ellis
Richard, Records have deteriorated TR2s being the worst although they have now been digitised so should not get any worse. The only proof of age acceptable to the DVLA at present is the Heritage certificate at £50 but with lots of spec. detail etc or a copy of the relevant page from Glass,s Checkbook which I can supply if you need it. Even Bill's records which are better than Heritage are not accepted currently. Feel free to email me (address in back of TRaction) if you need further detail. rhino_mac
Thanks Mike, you're a star. I'm trying to build as much history as possible but if I can at least get the V5 correct it's a great start. It didn't really come with any from the previous owner except the US title, V5 and an invoice for brakes in 2011. Hardly comprehensive! I'll email you this evening for a copy of the glasses page if that's OK. Thanks very much for the offer!
