A seam or not a seam

Recommended Posts

I own a 59 3A which I plan to do some work on bodywise.

Where the rear quarter panel, ie attached to the B post, meets the saddle there is no seam showing where these two panels join. On my post 60k series there was a seam.

I had thought earlier cars did not show the seam, is this correct?

Thanks, Bill

Our post 60K car had a seam on the nearside but not the offside. We stripped it back to metal when prepping the body for paint and found that the seam had been leaded! I researched and found (as above) that the pre-60K were leaded but the post not. Gentle application of a torch and a wet shammy means now we have seams on both sides.
