TR 2/3 Bonnet badge

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

My TR3 is being re-sprayed tomorrow and I have a problem with the positioning of the badge. The area under the badge was corroded, so it was cut out and re-plated. In so doing, the exact original position of the badge was lost.

Could some kind person give me a dimension from the top of the 'mouth' to the lower edge of the badge?

Thanks

GoGuy

Hi GoGuy ~

The length to the centre of the lower securing hole from the top of the mouth is 7".

(This is for a TR3A but all badges were fitted in the same position.)

Just to make sure I measured the distance from the top edge of the apron to the centre

of the top securing hole and this is 11". This measurement is the same for all TR2/3/3A's.

Hope this helps.

Regards ~

Tom.

Hi GoGuy

Looks like Tom has given you the answer. I have just measured my 58 3A and I measured 10" from top of apron to top of badge, and 5 3/4" from bottom of badge to top of mouth/grille line.

Regards

Rog

Just measured my 1956 TR3 - top of badge to top edge of apron = 290mm (11.42") bottom of badge to top of air intake = 100mm (3.94")

Hi,

Thanks to all those who replied - just going into the garage armed with tape measure and drill!

I find it hard to believe that the distances are the same for TR2 /3 & TR3A (& the above measurements tend to show that)

the apron is quite different in shape.

Hi everyone I am new to the forum I wonder if anyone can help I have a 1961 tr3a and I have been told that the badge on the front apron of my car is rare. It is a standard blue and silver badge but the bottom ribbon of the badge is black rather than being the normal blue, would anyone have any ideas on this?

Many thanks ian mellings
