Moss and all the other suppliers do them, you will have to stamp it yourself or some of the suppliers will do it for you for a fee.

Tom, chassis plate is a bit confusing, because there are three or four tags that might be called this. It seems what you're talking about is the commission number plate.

I'd suggest you try MiniMail on the following link. If your commission plate is a typical Leyland one with paint code/ trim code etc, they can emboss them in the correct font and style. You will need a copy of log book etc and they are around £25 including plate.

I doubt they do TR ones as it looks to be for Minis only.

...quite narrow as in rimmers catalogue for the TR3A ?

And note also, Bob, that not all narrow plates are the same. Here's the one from my car, for example. It has the (1959) date like later ones, but it also has a different weight etched into the aluminum. I believe I've seen reproductions of this style but they weren't that good. For a late car, this gets tricky.

No shame in using an original comm. no. plate no matter its condition.

Note that comm. no. plates were attached with various kinds of fasteners over the years. Early cars (TR2 era) were attached with a drive rivet. Later cars (like my TR3B) were attached with a closed-end aluminum blind rivet.

unfortunatley the current reproductions are not exact copies..

Klaus has a nice article on his site about the repros: https://translate.google.nl/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.klaus-sportwagen.de%2Fcontent%2F1100000%2F120800%2F120808.php&edit-text=

Have wondered multiple times how repo items just differs in details, allthough doing it right in the first place wouldnt cost anything extra in productin...
