Spigot Bush replacement

Why ? It's accessible from the rear once the gearbox is off.

If you are realy lucky it will just pull out with athe right size screwdriver jammed in

I f not so lucky a large easy out may do it

Another way to try (& this is quite clever):

fill the hole with grease, find a bar which is a good fit in the bush, insert it into the bush up to the grease, then hit bar with hammer.

Th hydraulic pressure should force the bush out of the hole.

 

I don't actually see how removing the crank helps anyway

Thanks for all your replies on this. I found the only way the bush could be replaced was removal of the flywheel as the external diameter of the bush was greater than the centre hole in the flywheel. Progressing now replacing clutch, that nasty release bearing broken fork pin etc.

Hi Chris,

the taper pin on its own is usually not good. Most people put a roll pin or bolt through the fork/shaft at 90 degrees to the taper pin.

 

With the fork/shaft/pin in your hand screw the pin into the fork/shaft and measure the gap under the head of the taper pin and the shoulder of the fork.

Remove the shaft from the fork and replace the pin to the same position as above.

You can now see the problem - the end of the pin rattles around in a hole bigger than the pin tip.

 

You could knock up a bush to fit in this hole (you would be the second person with this) and then you would not need the extra cross bolt.

 

Remember to fit the 7/8" bushes for the cross shaft at both ends.
