Mark69
Cracking job Len, looks like you nailed the wing and panel gaps. I was hoping for a late summer finish this year but recently seem to be going backwards not forwards. Mark
Tim D.
Had some electronics fun.. Used some latching circuits to reroute the dip/main switch to the "flash" function on the column stalks and built an OD logic circuit. All for £30.. Cheers Tim
Kevo_6
Ive not been doing anything on the car recently but since the beginning of September last year Ive been extending the garage to double its size so now its 6.5m x 6m, just enough to squeeze 3 cars in if necessary. Ive also built into one side a small summer house just to keep Jeanette happy and also was a good excuse to extend the garage. Its nearly finished, then I can do those little jobs on the cars. PodOne
Recovering after being quoted £10 - 12K for painting the bare shell of my beloved!! What they painting it with Gold Leaf! The more I read on here about prices for work esp from "TR specialists" the more I think I'm in the wrong job. A bare shell; the job is half done already labour wise. Look elsewhere! SeanF
Have you considered painting it yourself. You can get good results for a lot less money.

The more I read on here about prices for work esp from "TR specialists" the more I think I'm in the wrong job. A bare shell; the job is half done already labour wise. Look elsewhere! What with all the work then needed to get the panels to line up and filled etc. Materials alone these days are over £1K or would you rather have a "Wipe it off with a thinners rag and bang a coat of Synthetic over it!" type of respray? Stuart. Edited February 20, 2018 by stuart
len1
Stuart. That's why I asked what exactly was that price for...as I have just done my shell ...and the hours gone in to it are staggering! Len

scousegit
I'll come back later to-day with what's happening, together with some pictures. Jon. Edited February 20, 2018 by scousegit
scousegit
Apologises for the delay, I've been searching high and low for the pictures I've done of the project so far but to no avail they the folder seems to have disappeared; they are on my FB page though which you might be able to see here: https://www.facebook.com/jon.godsell.5/media_set?set=a.10153595922462591.1073741827.646377590&type=3 I have also written a piece explaining the situation in greater detail but, I think it rather to long winded for here and pretty pointless without the pictures, so I will just post the final paragraph: In answer to the questions posed, I have considered painting the shell myself, this one of the reasons I enrolled at the college in the first place. I do also understand the work that is necessary together with the associated cost involved to do the job well, but I don't want the car to be a "Concours Show Queen" when it's complete. I want to be able to drive my beloved around both at home and abroad, without having to worry about a little nick here and there or getting her mucky. I beginning to feel that a plan B is now required and I'll be looking into it in the next few days. Jon.

AndyR100
Weather was beautiful today so popped out do do a couple of simple things, nip up the nsf wheel bearing, fit a set of rather nice replacement hub caps I picked up last year and a quick plug-change. Paul J
Fitting a towbar to daily driver, fitting the bar was reasonably easy, the electrics were bewildering, eventually realised that Audi wiring does more than just one task and is controlled by the computer. Thanks to Google again. Now sorted by connecting brake lights to the high level tailgate light and the side light to the number plate lights which have their own designated supply.
