What does the bottom pan look like, and what does the squab look like out of the bucket?

Don - I'm afraid I can't remember and I'm not going to be able to have a look for a while - I have a side profile photo but I just can't see how to resize it to fit on here!

Bear with me and we'll get there eventually !!

cheers

That looks remarkably like the seats fitted to a Dove I owned briefly in the 70s, and I saw another Dove at the time fitted with the same seats. There was a suggestion that they were 'original', in the sense that they were options offered by Doves of Wimbledon - that from the owner of the other car so fitted, which he'd owned from a couple of years old. No idea what car or aftermarket manufacturer they came from though.

Cheers

It looks very like a late Spitfire seat to me.

Does it have a hole in the top for a single bar head rest?

Quite possibly whoever it was thought a Triumph seat would be handy one day.

Mike - it doesn't have any holes in the top for a headrest mounting - also the sides aren't nearly as deep as the various bucket seats mentioned earlier.

I will try and take some more detailed photos in the near future.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi all - have now had a chance to take some better photos but I just don't seem to be able to upload them - I have resized the photos to be only 30% of the original but it keeps saying " Error This upload failed" in a pink coloured and red edged box above where it says " Attach Files" in the reply screen.

In the sentence after the box "Attach This File" at the bottom of the screen it says "You can upload up to Uploading is not allowed of files ( Max. single file size:8MB)" . The middle words "Uploading is not allowed" is in heavy type.

I am not a regular contributor, but I recently put a post in "BuySell" and was able to upload 5 photos - subsequently I have only been able to upload a max of 1 photo, if any at all - what am I doing wrong ?

I have got 5 or 6 photos which will really help to identify this seat but this is so frustrating!

Finally, why is there a caption next to my ID on the screen which says " 0 warning points" - I don't see this on anyone else's ID .

This is such a user unfriendly forum!

cheers

Photos are best -- and a user-friendly piece o' cake -- if you host them someplace and use a link to display them here. Copy the URL from your hosting service (Photobucket, Flickr, paid services like SmugMug (the one I use and can highly recommend) into the dialog that opens using the photo icon on the message toolbar, and you're good to go.

Hosting the image on the TRR website has many limitations, as you've noted.

Relax. "Points" are some of the private information provided about one's account. If it's really important to you I'll send a screenshot of my personal view and you can see the no points comment on my user panel, too.

Don - thank you for the advice but to an IT ignoramus like me, it's all double dutch - I don't even know what an "URL" is! Isn't that someone with a title in the House of Lords?

I will have to get some training but in the meantime, we clearly can post photos as people do, and indeed I have as well in the past, so it would be interesting to know why I now can't.

Thanks for the explanation re my "points" - I thought maybe I had been a naughty boy and being going too fast over the threads!

cheers

Don - getting their slowly - have now set up a photobucket account and have got an album of the seat photos - but now I'm stumped. Where do I find " the dialog that opens using the photo icon on the message toolbar". Also to copy the URL from my photobucket album, do I right click on the album and "copy link address" - sorry to be such an idiot!

cheers

You're doin' great, Rich -- you're only minutes away from being able to insert pix. The reason you might not be able to upload now whereas you could in the past is that each of us has a limited amount of storage space on the TRR website, When that's full, one has to clear out old images or move to a hosting service. There have been many requests for the Register to increase the space per member so images could be loaded directly to the website -- you're not alone in wishing for that!

Here's the Photobucket instruction page on links:

http://support.photobucket.com/hc/en-us/articles/200724324-Linking-and-Embedding-Images

This will show you how to get a "direct" URL (uniform resource locator -- a complicated name for the web address for the photo).

When you have that, the "image" icon on the TRR forum his here:

i-V4MgBFs-L.jpg

For example, to show the image above I pasted into the dialog that opens the following URL for that screenshot:

http://4xdog.smugmug.com/photos/i-V4MgBFs/0/L/i-V4MgBFs-L.jpg

You can click on this link and you'll see the photo, but the forum software is set up to grab and display the link directly using that icon on the toolbar.
