1970 Saffron TR6 - it's here!

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks

Well, the big day is here and I picked up the Saffron TR6 this morning, the LHC has been out in it and enjoyed the drive - if still a little unconvinced with the colour! Related Link

On closer inspection it's had a bit of paint here and there, but it is 44 years old and Baldrick was impressed!

That's a nice car Andrew, if go to Harrogate I'll go too, just to have a look at the car... :) but first change the steering wheel, the black rim kills the rest of the interior, but you probably did notice it before me ;)

Jean yes, I did - the wheel is also too close to me, so will have to adjust it away - I have started a 'Wanted' thread in the 'Buy, Sell, Trade' section - Link.

Not sure I'll be at Harrogate yet - as I want to camp, but Bev was put off last time by the cold and wants a hotel; we are in discussion!

But if I am I'll see you there!

Cheers

Andrew

That colour's growing on me, Andrew. I used to have a Mimosa 6 which I bought despite the colour and then grew to like it. Enjoy the car.

ahh . I bought a Sienna brown, I think ! its a restoration job , everyone who has seen the car whilst still together kind of liked the colour, but in the next breath asked me what colour I am going to do it in !

Saffron is a great colour in my opinion ......very cool.......

Thanks again folks!

The M3 Evo has just sold and the chap drove away very happy, as well he should - 'Saffy' is currently being stored in my neighbour's garage, so will now drive it into the vacant space!

Happy days! :)

Thanks chaps,

Yes it is stunning thanks, and I'm still pinching myself!

Gordon,

Ha ha, that's what's missing, those wing mirrors and of course a set of mud flaps!

Mike,

Yep, a great Easter present, but I don't find them, they find me.................... ;)

Been doing a 'Peter Dykins' this afternoon and spent about 2 hours cleaning 'Saffy's' bodywork and that was just the windscreen and the bits forward of it - still need to clean the front grill and lower valance! :o Then onto the engine bay, interior and bodywork to the rear of the windscreen! It seems this car hasn't had a detailed clean for many a year.

Got the valuation inspection on Saturday and it needs to be at it's best.............so, guess what I'll be doing most evenings this week - yep!

Well done Andrew. Very nice car.

Silly question - can it pass the UK MOT without a single side mirror?

Yep - as long as there is no evidence that they were fitted as standard and then later removed!

Nice car by the way Andrew - one step closer to proper yellow!

Regards,

Michael

" as long as there is no evidence that they were fitted as standard and then later removed! "

A common misconception, but not correct I'm afraid.

See link below for chapter and verse

This website, if you go to the contents tab at the top of the page, offers chapter and verse on the complete MoT test

For the remainder of the regs surrounding MoTs see

Hmmm.... Interesting - I was told this by the MOT man when he passed my Herald year after year? I guess the misconception extends to the experts!

Cheers,

Michael
