Graeme Robinson
Hi, I'm near to completing the restoration of my 59 3a but have 2 holes that I can't identify. They are located on the top of the bulkhead between the rear view mirror and the dash top. They are equally spaced in a line between each fixing for the mirror and the tenax fasteners on the dash top itself. I thought that they may have been used for aero screens at some point but there are no other holes elsewhere-any ideas? One point worth noting; I have my concerns regarding my bulkhead in that I'm fairly sure it's been changed at some point in the cars history; the reason I say this is that the brackets (and corresponding holes/recesses) that support the windscreen pillars were not the dzus type & therefore I believe from a post TS6000 car? Many thanks Graeme
Lebro
Aeroscreen holes are either side of the demister vents, there will be 4 in total. Dont know what your holes are, maybe for an "extra" the PO fitted ?
Rodbr
Hi Graeme, My 3a is also a late '59 on and does not have Dzus fasteners for the screen stantions and I have no reason at all to believe that a new scuttle panel was fitted. I suspect that the "extra " holes might be for a "bullit" type rear view mirror that was sometimes fitted by enthusiastic owners. I think I am right in saying that a late 59 3a would not have the aeroscreen holes or fittings as they were omitted on later cars.
Graeme Robinson
Mine is TS58872 but I thought the non Dzus cars were post 6000, I must have got this wrong I guess?
