The TR International Weekend at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern once again proved to be a spectacular festival all of things Triumph TR.

Taking place over the weekend of the 9th-11th August the event was blessed not only by beautiful sunshine but also by an impressive turn out of early TR2's as part of this years on-going 60th anniversary celebrations.

On the Saturday over thirty TR2's gathered in the arena for a photo shoot, presentation and birthday cake to commemorate the launch of the TR range of sports cars in 1953. Other attractions for the thousands of enthusiasts present over the weekend included free seminars from long standing TR experts on the TR4 works rally cars, basic maintenance, electrics and bodywork.

The event also marked the 30th anniversary of the Grinnall TR8 conversions commemorated by the largest gathering of the custom car builders "round style" models ever seen. In 1963 the hatchback bodied version of the TR4, the GTR4 Dove was launched and to celebrate, fifteen Doves of the feathered variety were launched from the cars across the Malvern Hills.

Alongside the traditional concours competition was an opportunity for children of all ages to drive the TR Registers Coca Cola TR7. Equipped with dual controls within a safe area it's hoped that a future generation of TR enthusiasts left the event with a new excitement for the marque. The annual and highly competitive Autosolo competition concluded on Sunday morning in a crescendo of tyre smoke and applause with fastest time honours going to Jon Dumelow in his lightweight TR4.

The social side of the event remains popular with superhero themed parties, Ceilidh bands and the customary Saturday night disco. In 2014 the event moves to the Great Yorkshire Showground near Harrogate 8 - 10th August where the TR Register will host guest car clubs and an opportunity for owners to drive the Harewood Hillclimb for another festival of all things TR.
