Clyde Valley
Isabel Hatcher
Clyde Valley group met up for their annual dinner at the end of January. As usual we were gathered for a curry buffet once we had all navigated the Paisley one way system. A little bit of research has discovered that the building housing the restaurant dates from before 1781 and is B listed. It was a roofless ruin in 1982 and has been sympathetically restored. Not many people know that!
Plans for the forthcoming season were discussed and the list of events will be published shortly on the 'Future Events' section of the website. Meanwhile, a summer trip to Ireland is being planned for 14 - 18 June 2012 and anyone interested in joining that should contact Steve Craig now so that he can make bookings.

Grampian
Alan Gibb
We have had a great winter up here - open top motoring in January. If this is global warming, bring it on.
One of our members, Brian Slade, sadly passed away recently. We gave him a TR send off with a display of Triumph cars at the funeral. Brian was a keen group member, always happy to help with events and he loved the west coast trips away.
I would like to thank Stuart Groundwater for his talk on Michelin winter tyres at our January club night. February’s technical night was a chat about engine and suspension rebuilding. Ernie Thomson’sTR6 engine was giving him trouble so it is away for a rebuild and also power steering is being fitted for his wife’s benefit.
I was invited to a dinner at the Glamis hotel to welcome Duncan Menzies as the new Tayside group leader. He has taken over from Drew Scott and I wish him all the best for the future. We will help him to promote the group over the coming season.
I have sent out 2012 Grampian Triumph events list to all our members; if you were missed out please phone me.
March saw us at Stoneleigh Triumph Spares day. It was a long journey but it was well worth it. The following weekend I represented Scotland at the group leader’s meeting at Gaydon.
April sees the light nights and the start of our TR meetings held around countryside locations. On the 5th May is your chance to try the “Tour of the Cairns” rally. It starts and finishes at Edzell. The rally is about 90 miles with a bit of map reading and a driving skills test on route finishing off with a high tea and prize presentation. The 13th May is our Great North Run taking in some lovely hills and moors ending up at the Buckie Classic Show. June will be another busy month starting off with the now famous Shetland Classic Show. If you make it, I hope to meet up with you there. We are invited to the Classic Car Coffee meeting every Saturday morning between 10 and 12 o’clock at the Four Mile House restaurant, Kingswells.
Well that is all the news meantime from the north; I hope to meet you over the season.
