Hi fellow followers. Well by the time you read this most of our cars will I am sure be ready to face the summer.
At the time of writing Peter Taylor was in the final stages of work on his TR7 with the speedo away for calibration and the distributor being converted to an electronic ignition system. Tim Hurry’s TR6 is having an upgraded throttle linkage. John Burningham had a bad experience in that he had total brake failure on his TR4A, which apparently was due to the master cylinder breather becoming blocked. John has now replaced the master cylinder as a precaution. Alan Lyons’ TR6 MOT has now been completed but not before giving him a day to remember! When ready to drive to the Test centre the car would not start which was due to a failure of the petrol pump relay. Alan by-passed the relay and just made it on time for the test. He had originally intended to pick up petrol on route but as the fuel gauge showed a quarter of a tank and he was short of time he decided the fuel could wait until the homeward journey. WRONG – yes, the tank was empty just after leaving the garage. After a little exercise a can of fuel was obtained but now the steering lock became jammed. After a lot of effort and exasperation and no doubt a few choice words, it was apparent that a recovery truck was needed (oh, if only I had been there with the camera). However the drama did not end there as upon returning home the truck could not get into Alan’s drive, which meant he had to disconnect the steering shaft before the car could be pushed into the garage. Happy days!
You should have received our Events Calendar in February. If not please let Peter or myself know. Our “Drive it” day run is kindly being again organised by Alan Lyon on 22nd April so I am sure it will be a most enjoyable run. Ladies Day will be on 27th May and by popular request will end with Sunday Lunch at the magnificent Stoke Rochford Hall. We intend starting with coffee at The Fox and Hounds at Longthorpe, Peterborough, so if you wish to come along and have not already done so, please let me know.
Finally we are in the process of creating a Camb Followers Yahoo group “Cam Torque” so if you have not been contacted, please let us know.
Peter sends us monthly updates of Camb Followers events, you can email him at gmparky@googlemail.com to request your updates, or ring Peter on 01778 343625. Also, our website is: www.groups.tr-register.co.uk/camb-followers/. See you at The Three Horseshoes at Wistow PE28 2QQ on the third Monday of each month and The Millstone at Barnack PE9 3ET on the first Wednesday of each month.

We rounded off 2011 with Christmas dinner and festivities at our monthly group meeting venue, namely the Old Mill Hotel in Coventry. This was the first time we held our Christmas dinner there and they looked after us very well so we had a very enjoyable afternoon.
With spring now upon us the group have been working out an events list for this year, commencing with the classic car Drive it Day on April 22nd. The other events we have positive dates for are the Shakespeare run (or Coventry run as it is known these days) on August bank holiday weekend and the Warwickshire village of Birdingbury annual village fete on July 14/15th, always a popular event for viewing interesting collections of classic vehicles.
Then there are other events also popular with the group such as the summer run to Symonds Yat for Sunday lunch at the Wyeknot Inn, owned by Dave and Anne Rooke (son in law and daughter of our group leader Margaret Gleed) and our annual Concours event for which we haven’t finalised a date at the time of writing but usually held in August. And then last but not least there are the Register organised events such as the IWE weekend on the 10-12th of August and the Standard Triumph Marque Day at Prescott on the 20th May.
And finally I would like to congratulate Dave and Margaret Gleed on receiving their Gold medal award at the TR Register AGM in November which you can see in Margaret’s hand in the interesting accompanying photograph of Margaret and Mike Papworth taken at the Christmas dinner.

Hi all, the nights are getting lighter and by the time this issue is published we will be well into spring with most of our winter hibernating cars back on the road ready to enjoy the summer ahead.
Not much going on in the winter months, but this is brightened up by the Winter Ball. Five Leicestershire couples attended this year and by the look of the photos, they had a great time as usual. On a personal note, we are waiting for our youngest child to be old enough to leave for a weekend so we can join in too.
Plans proceed apace for our first Leicestershire Weekend with applications to join us starting to arrive. It promises to be a great event; Dick will be consulted to book good weather for us.
With many varied adventures planned this year, including raids to other local group meetings, Sunday runs out, a variety of evening meals and representing our group at other locally organised events, there has never been a better time to come and see what we are all about. So, please come and join us at the Rose and Crown at Tilton on the Hill, third Thursday monthly and take part in some of our planned get-togethers.
Future Events
Sun 22nd April - Drive it Day
Sat 5th/Sun 6th May - Donnington Historic Festival
Sun 13th May - Run Out
Fri 22nd - Sun 24th June - Leicestershire Weekend
Happy TRing.

I must apologise for not submitting reports in the last two issues. However, there has been plenty going on and we have a very busy year planned.
January’s AGM saw Andy, Malcolm, Bob and me all re-elected in our respective roles. At the meeting we all decided that our current venue no longer met our list of requirements. The non-existent car park and the small, long room which makes it difficult to mingle, being our biggest gripes.
Consequently, a group of us went for dinner at The George at Langworth and decided to recommend it to the group. It has a huge car park, large bar, separate restaurant and outside seating area. The decision was adopted at our meeting in February, and so from May the new monthly meeting place will be The George Inn, Main Road, Langworth, LN3 5BJ. The pub is on the A158 between Lincoln and Wragby and the meetings will continue to be on the third Monday of the month at 8pm.
Congratulations to a Dave and Jane McDonald, Phil and Diane O’Hara and Celia and Dave Dawson who were TRiumphant in the MG Car Club Inter Marque quiz in February. It is a great achievement as the previous winning team have not been beaten for years!
Leicester Group Leader, Martin Ward, has invited us to join them at Grimsthorpe Castle and Gardens on their first group run of the year on 1st April and we have another run and lunch planned for Sunday 15th April, organised by Peter and Cheryl Heath. Hopefully, we will have had enough support to make both outings successful.
Drive it Day on 22nd April is to be a joint collaboration with the Scimitar Owners Club and is being organised by Malcolm and Sherry Brown. I believe that some members of the group will be supporting the Wolds Trophy Event organised by the HSCC at Cadwell Park on the same day, too.
Looking ahead, there will be a TR Lincs presence at Donington on 5th/6th May for the Historic Vehicle Festival and Race meeting. I can put those wishing to attend in touch with other interested parties who may wish to convoy over together.
Coming up on the 10th June, Louth Classic Car Show starts with an organised run in the Lincolnshire Wolds, followed by free entry to the show for pre-booked vehicles. It would be nice to have a good showing of TRs this year. To round off the month of June, Derek and Allyson Pywell will be leading a run in the south of the county. Details in the next issue.
Finally, a warm welcome from TR Lincs to John and Margaret Fraser who have re-joined the Register and by the time you read this will have hopefully, got fixed up with a TR6.

A Happy New Year to one and all. Ok, maybe a little late but I missed the last TR Action and it is better late than never.
So, I shall start with the formalities; another year gone and another year in which I have been Group Leader. Every year the position is up for re-election and open to anyone interested. Election! Perhaps I meant nomination! Are you not fed up with me yet? As usual, if you are interested in the position and would like to step forward, please make yourself known by sending details to myself or Tim Sharp, our Area Coordinator.
Onwards and forthcoming events; Triumph Spares day at Stoneleigh on the 4th March and British Summer Time starts on the 25th March. I know there’s not much happening at the moment but it is only February. There will be more to tell you about next time as it will be mid-April by then. I will however direct you towards the Nene Valley website and ‘future events’ see http://www.groups.tr-register.co.uk/nene-valley/future_events.html as this is comprehensive and up-to-date. Brian has been very busy and there is lots of other interesting stuff there as well, stop a while and have a look around.
If you know of anything else which may be of interest then please call or e-mail and let us know. If it is not on the website then it is not known.
Finally, 2012 is the big year when all members, new and old will get out to the events and group meetings so hopefully I will be meeting more of you this year! And if you do not come to the group meetings regularly then I will forget your name - Elaine. Sorry, private joke but if you want to know then come to The Lilacs on the second Sunday of the month from 8pm onwards.
That is it till next time, hope to see you somewhere soon.
