Twitter took the world by storm more than a year ago with it's celebrity users and millions of followers but it's really a very simple idea, and it's not all about celebrities and mundane minute by minute updates.
The idea behind Twitter is very simple - you have 140 characters to tell the world what you are doing. That's it, that's your limit. You can link to other web pages, images and all sorts but the main twitter updates can only have 140 characters.
People who are members of Twitter can sign-up to follow your 'tweets' and have them automatically delivered into their 'feed' so that they can see them on their own Twitter web-page, or on their mobile device - people can even sign-up to follow people's 'tweets' and receive a text message with every new mention.
To give us an easy platform to provide constant updates from certain events we tested out Twitter as an option last year - with great success. It was so successful that we will be running the same updates this year, which you can follow here on the website to the right or here or through our dedicated Twitter page here.
We use Twitter as it is public, very easy to update and simple to integrate into our current website.
This means that we can make constant updates to the website during live events using laptops & mobile phones without the need for our members to sign-up to a new service.
So remember, whilst you can join Twitter and have tweets served straight to your phone or computer/twitter page you DO NOT have to join Twitter to see tweets from the International Weekend - just follow them here or on our dedicated IWE-live page.
Our live feed is closed for this year. Check back soon for more information on the TR International Weekend 2011 - in Harrogate!
